Alicia Zamorano Gándara, 3º ESO A

Dear Gabriel's parents, .
I am  writing to you this letter to be able to convey my pain owing to the death of Gabriel. I know that my suffering it is not comparable to your suffering, and nobody will cry more than you, but I just wanted  you to see that you are not alone, and you have moved all the country.
My letter will not be the prettiest or the most touching, but from my house I expected  to arrive from the school and  see in the news that Gabriel was found, and my dissapointment was huge, knowing that althought  he was found,  he was without life.
The world probably will be colder without ''the goldfish''.
My condolences.

Translated by:.

Sigue nadando, pesacaito

Claudia Couto,3º ESO C

Dear Gabriel’s parents,
I don’t really know how to start this letter. Perhaps, I will start saying how much I felt the lost of your son. I don’t feel  half of what you feel but I understand you and I totally and completely support you.
You don’t know me but I want to dedicate you some words of support that, now more than ever, you need  as nobody. This is totally unfair but  don’t stop fighting. The time puts everybody in his/her place, and the injustices are dearly paid.
Nobody has the right to take the life of nobody and, although now it pains and hurts inside, you must fight and let the justice proceed
I understand everything you are passing and, with these words, I only want to give you my support because you deserve the best.
Burying a son is the hardest thing that there may be in the world. When  time passes by, you will learn to live with it although this scar will never dissapear of your hearts.
He takes care and loves both of you from the heaven, I’m sure.
Keep swimming little fish.

GABRIEL IN OUR HEARTS

"The play was  close and pleasant in general , just after starting you had that kind of feeling of wanting the character to achieve all the challenges that they had to face. With the public's participation and lots of funny moments, you get out of the theater with a good taste in your mouth. But  it became  repetitive and a bit boring in the last half an hour with some arguments apart of the main one, that look like stuffing more than  part of the play, but it's understandable as they wanted  to get the audience involved(I'm talking about the chat conversation). In conclusion, the play was enjoyable, easy to understand (actors made the effort to be understoodpretty well) and the only bad thing about it is the one at the end."

REVIEW OF THE PERFORMANCE “THE CELESTINA”

“La Celestina” tells us the story of Calisto and Melibea, two young lovers who live a forbidden love. These are the characters among others: an old gossiper trying to find her gain, some ambitious servants and two parents who should have been more careful with their daughter.

Written by Fernando de Rojas, the play took place in a modest theatre of Madrid, the Karpas theatre. Despite the fact that the seating area is not bigger than a classroom, each spectator has enough space to enjoy it.

The best thing about these few meters of the room is that you can feel every word that is said by the characters and the feelings they express better and closer. In this way, they get that the spectators believe they are part of the conversation. As in all the tragicomedies, there are moments of sadness and others where laughing is inevitable.
It is really amazing how some curtains and some objects as stage props draws you into what is happening. Obviously, the merit is from the actors who, at the end, share some words with the public.
Personally, it has been a pleasant experience and I recommend it to any teenager or adult who want to have an enjoyable time.

CHEMISTRY AND LATIN.UNITED
ETYMOLOGICALLY FOREVER

Breaking the myths about the “rivalry” of these subjects.

We are introducing you a very creative, interdisciplinar activity carried out by Cristina Sevillano (Latin)  and Ana Belén (Chemistry):

Why is Au the chemical symbol for gold, or  Fe the symbol for  iron and P the symbol for  phosphorus?

Do you know why iodine is violet and the halogens generate salt?
Science?  Arts? At first sight, they may  seem very different. Moreover, we could say that there are abysmal differences. But it doesn’t have to be the case.

Physics and Chemistry  students and Latin students from 4ºESO make evident this fact with  an interdisciplinary, cooperative activity. The activity consisted of   searching information about the chemical elements , their group ,their identification and their name.Furthermore, they searched and added the etymological origin of every symbol's name and words etymologically related with them. All of these  was assembled  separately and  then joined  in paper a six-face paper cubes which had different colors, corresponding to the "aristocrat" noble gases(blue),the alkaline (white),the transition metals (red),the carbonates (orange),the nitrogenous (yellow) and the chalcogen  and halogens(green).
Finally, after having joined all the cubes, a  big Rubik's cube was formed.

After these investigations  about whether science and arts are complementary or not, we come to the conclusion that both of them support each other.Do you still doubt about their compatibility?

AGAINST GENDER VIOLENCE

We have  been celebrating   the day against gender violence on 24th of November.in our high school for a few years.
Here ,there is an article that tells us about oneof the  activities we did. Meritxell Sanglas, a teacher, has prepared a beautiful activity with her 2ºA art class:

On   the day against gender violence on 24th of November, Miguel Hernández secondary school  paid tribute to victims with a mural indicating how many women have been killed by their ex-partners. Exactly, from 2003 to 2016 850 women have died, and  45 within this year.
Each number in the mural is decorated with mandalas. These mandalas were made by 2º ESO pupils with zentangle technique.
Also, there was a photocall in the hall of building A, where we can read "take a photo and upload it in your profilel". Here, all pupils took a photo and they upload it in a social networking.
This problem has affected our society for many years and we have to stop it.

SCIENCE APPLIED TO THE PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

In this article, Daniel Megías , a student in 4º ESO A introduces us a subject which he is studying this year. His teacher, Ana Belén Franco, has provided this article to us:

"Science Applied to the Professional Activity" is a subject as  practical as theoretical  because, every time we do a practice, when we finish it, we start writing” the report” where  we write  the way we did it and its results.

The last practice we did consisted of making   a spectroscope, with which we discovered that looking to an illuminated area, we could see different colours.

At first time I didn't know what I was going to find in this subject , but my expectations didn't decrease when we started the first practice ,seeing that it was entertaining and you learnt at the same time.
Now, our  next project is the elaboration of a fragrance with different essences, without any doubt, a very good Santa Claus' present!!
